Teaching

Dr. Cornet’s primary teaching goal is to encourage ‘critical thinking and multiple ways of seeing.’ She designs and facilitates High Impact Practice (HIP) curricula that are tailored to meet the unique needs of first-generation, low-income, and disabled college students, ensuring their sense of belonging, mental well-being, retention, and on-time graduation. Her courses and curricula support research findings showing that cumulative HIPs are central to the deep learning process of first-generation college students.

Dr. Cornet’s scholarly research incorporates performance writings and visual arts in her analysis of people in global Afro-diaspora city locations.
